Tor House — a National Historic Landmark

by Tor House Trustees: Gere DizerEga, James Karman, & Elliot Ruchowitz-Roberts

In December 2024, Tor House, the home of poet Robinson Jeffers and his family, was designated a National Historic Landmark for its distinguished contribution to American history and culture. Between 1919 and 1962, Jeffers designed, built, and lived in Tor House—an extraordinary complex of uncut granite structures located on the Carmel coast of California. During the same period, he also earned worldwide acclaim as the author of eighteen books of poetry. This commemorative volume reproduces the complete text and images of Tor House's National Historic Landmark nomination.

This book is currently only available at Tor House. Join us for a tour and purchase a memorable keepsake from your visit.
