TOR HOUSE IS OPEN FOR FULL TOURS ON SATURDAYS

Tor House is now open for full indoor and outdoor tours on Saturdays only. The hour-long tours begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12p.m. and 1 p.m., in the docent office.

For your safety and ours, masks are required indoors and must be worn correctly.

Tours are limited to a maximum of six people. Tours are by reservation only.

Wellness Checks: Docents perform a self-screening wellness check to ensure they are healthy and symptom-free.  Visitors are required to do the same.  If you or anyone in your group is experiencing symptoms, we will work directly with you to cancel or reschedule your tour.

About THE Tours

Come learn about the history of early Carmel. Tour the beautiful gardens of Tor House with views into Tor House. Gaze up at Hawk Tower, reminiscent of ancient Irish stone towers. Hear the poetry of Robinson Jeffers that defines the Central Coast. Learn about the life and times of the Jeffers family. Experience the atmosphere that inspired some of America's finest poetry. Step back in time and follow the romance of Carmel's poet. You’ll be delighted you did.

The grounds are closed to the public Sunday through Friday, but you can take photographs from the street.

Call the Tor House office (831) 624-1813 to inquire about special group tours during the week. Please contact us at least 30 days in advance.

To speak with a docent on the day of your tour, call (831) 624-1813. Please note that docents are in and out of the office and may not be available to take your call. You are most likely to reach someone from half past the hour to the top of the hour. Voicemails are not answered until Monday.

Photography is not allowed on the tours. Cameras are only allowed in Tor House during the Foundation's Garden Party held annually on the first Sunday in May.
