Jeffers' Works

The Collected Letters of Robinson Jeffers with Selected Letters of Una Jeffers, Volume Two, edited by James Karman
In this second volume of The Collected Letters, editor James Karman continues the masterful scholarship of Volume One.  Volume Two includes the correspondence of Robinson and Una from 1931 to 1939, a difficult decade for the couple.  Jeffers' writer's block and Una's attempts to help, Jeffers' distress over the increasing demands of society on him personally and professionally, and Una's suicide attempt in 1938 are documented and augmented with extensive footnotes.  The resulting 1100-page volume, with 42 black and white photographs, continues the Jefferses' story in the truest, most honest way it can be told.  (HB) $95
